Meet the Therapists

Amanda King

Speech Language Pathologist CCC

Georgia State University

Amanda King founded Therapies of The Rockies  in 2008 to assist families with obtaining speech therapy services without having to go to a hospital setting.  Amanda has worked in Colorado school systems for three years as well as in home health agencies.  She focused mainly on improving student language and reading comprehension as well as language skills.

In working with children, Amanda centers therapy on developing functional language skills to ease the frustration in communication for both the child and parents and to give the child skills to communicate effectively with peers. Her philosophy is that family involvement is the key to a child’s success in therapy and works closely with parents and siblings to  maximize the client’s potential.

Alison completed internships in hospital, private practice, and preschool settings.  She has implemented group therapy sessions to improve socialization, language, attention, behavior, and sensory skills in children with mild to severe autism.  In her internship at Henry Ford Cottage Hospital she evaluated, diagnosed, and treated adults and geriatric patients with various communication, cognitive, and swallowing deficits.

Alison believes it is important to build a strong rapport not only with her clients but also with their families in order to best serve them. She integrates her enthusiasm and creativity into each therapy session to make sure clients gain as much from each session as possible.

Katherine Jones

Speech Language Pathologist CCC

Stephen F. Austin State University

In her experience at Aurora Public Schools, Katherine implemented evaluations and provided treatment to elementary school-age children with a concentration on small-group language skills therapy.  Additionally, Katherine completed internships in hospital, clinical, and school settings.  During this time, she evaluated, diagnosed, and treated populations ranging from preschool to geriatrics for various language, swallowing, articulation, social, and fluency disorders.

As each child is unique, Katherine aims to conduct therapy sessions in a way that will spark the child’s interest and meet individual learning needs.   Through an emphasis on family inclusion, her ultimate goal is to bridge the gap between the therapy room and the outside world where vital communication occurs.
