Amanda King founded Therapies of the Rockies in 2008 to assist families in obtaining quality therapy services without having to go to a hospital setting. Amanda has grown the company to over 25 full time employees and is always working to maintain TOTR’s high standard of excellence. Amanda has 2 kiddos elementary school age and in her spare time, she can be found walking her 2 dogs, exploring the restaurant scene, or skiing at Keystone Mountain.

Leah Castle

Leah has spent her career in small business environments wearing many hats. Prior to joining the team at Therapies of the Rockies, Leah has worked in the Entertainment and Technology industries honing her administrative, human resources, office management, and client services fields. She is excited to move into the Billing Manager role at Therapies of the Rockies and be part of a team providing excellent patient care.

Melanie Wiseman

Melanie is the Clinical Director at Therapies of the Rockies, supporting our clinical staff and working collaboratively with the practice managers. She earned her Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from Northeastern University, and currently holds national certification through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and state licensure in Colorado. Melanie joined the TOTR family in 2013, working hard for the growth of her patients as well as toward the growth and success of the team at Therapies of the Rockies. Melanie strives to incorporate the most up-to-date evidence-based research in her practice, ensuring patients receive dynamic treatment that fits their needs and abilities for expanding their communication. She has focused her continuing education and clinical practice primarily in the areas of Autism and Apraxia of Speech but holds a love for supporting children with all speech and language disorders in children, as well as their families. Melanie’s approach to therapy integrates all areas of child development and supported research approaches while working with the family to build connections from the therapy room to school and home. She makes therapy fun, engaging, and relevant for promoting the most success and carryover in a child’s communication.

Kayley is originally from Houston, TX and obtained her Master’s from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She decided that she rather enjoyed spending time in the mountains and began working in the public schools in Colorado. Kayley is proficient in American Sign Language and has worked in center-based Deaf and Hard of Hearing programs. She has gained clinical experience in areas such as articulation, aural rehabilitation, fluency, receptive and expressive language delays, and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC).
Kayley strives to empower clients and their families by addressing communication in a functional and engaging manner. Hiking, reading, and spending quality time with family and friends are a few of her interests.

Abby Topel

Abby grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and attended the University of Iowa for her undergraduate studies. She received her Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from Northeastern University in Boston, MA. Abby moved to Colorado in 2014 and has since gained experience working in home based, school, and private practice settings, working with both pediatric and adult populations.

 

Abby is fluent in Spanish and conversational in American Sign Language. She strives to cater her therapy toward the whole individual and family, targeting multi-modalities through play and exploration while working with families to achieve their long term goals. Over the years, Abby has gained experience in helping patients with expressive/receptive language disorders, articulation delays, motor speech disorders, feeding difficulties, pragmatic deficits, and cognitive delays/disorders. She is particularly passionate about working with patients who are anxious or lack enjoyment surrounding eating and mealtimes. Abby is trained in Beckman Oral Motor and Get Permission Approach to Feeding.
When not at work, Abby can be found dancing at Red Rocks, cooking and sharing delicious meals with others, traveling, and spending time in the mountains with her husband and dog, Shuggie Otis!

Lauren Apple

Occupational Therapist
Creighton University 

Lauren earned her Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy from Creighton University, and her
undergraduate degree in Human Development and Family Studies from Colorado State
University. Lauren has clinical experience across the lifespan; including working with
individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities for 10+ years, as well as experience
working with adolescents and adults with eating disorders. Lauren recently completed her
Doctoral Capstone working with children and adolescents with a mental health diagnosis. Her
focus was to better understand how pediatric outpatient services can support children and
adolescents to prevent future inpatient psychiatric admission. In her free time Lauren enjoys live
music, cooking, and spending time outside with family, friends, and her dog Samson.

Arkady Jencks

Physical Therapist Assistant & Practice Manager
Arapahoe Community College

 

Arkady is a Colorado native who is passionate about cultivating mind and body wellness. She graduated from the Physical Therapist Assistant program from Arapahoe Community College. She enjoys connecting with her patients and providing individualized treatment interventions including manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, balance and coordination. She works with a wide variety of related diagnoses spanning orthopedic, vestibular, neurological and overall deconditioning. 
Arkady also has over 8 years of experience in personal training working with a wide demographic and teaching group fitness classes including circuit and High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), yoga, barre, cycling, aerobics and resistance and conditioning. She is certified with Silver Sneakers and currently teaches the Strength and Balance and the Core mat class at TOTR. She is an advocate for daily physical activity and its profound impact on functional mobility, longevity and mental and emotional well-being. 

Julie Bernsen

Julie received her undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado – Boulder, and graduated from Utah State University with a Master of Arts in Communicative Disorders and Deaf Education. Julie has spent her professional career working with children and adolescents in private practices in Salt Lake City, Utah as well as Houston, Texas. She has clinical experience in the areas of articulation, phonology/phonological awareness, receptive and expressive language disorders, early language delays, feeding, apraxia/motor speech disorders, and social pragmatics. She is particularly passionate about evaluating and treating individuals with fluency disorders, as well as working with children with hearing loss who utilize a Listening and Spoken Language approach to communication. Julie loves working in the private practice setting as it allows her to work closely with parents, form a close bond with her clients, and help to achieve meaningful and long-lasting communication success. When Julie is not working, she loves enjoying Colorado’s beautiful outdoors with her husband and daughter.

Anna Mannisio

Before completing her Occupational Therapy degree, Anna spent her summers as a wilderness camp counselor for kids in Minnesota. That is where she decided that helping people to enjoy life and play is what she wanted to do for the rest of her life.

She has experience in hospitals, rehab centers and home care settings while providing care for persons with poly-trauma, stroke, oncology events, behavioral health, dementia, and post-amputation. She loves seeing patients all across the lifespan. She believes everyone has their own path to take, and tries to give her patients the tools they need to be successful in their journeys. She takes a holistic approach to patient care.

In her free time she loves skiing, hiking, fishing and camping with her family. On the few days when the Colorado weather doesn’t cooperate for outdoor activities, Anna will sketch or paint an outdoor scene.

Taylor Wickey

Taylor graduated from the University of Akron with her Masters in Speech Pathology. Shortly after graduation, Taylor moved to Colorado and has worked with clients across the lifespan in outpatient, home health, school, telehealth, and
aquatic environments.

Taylor desires for her clients and families to feel heard, supported, connected, and empowered during the therapy process. She aspires to meet clients where they are at and provide strategies and tools to enhance their independence and quality of life. Taylor is passionate about connecting her clients to the community. She conducted various therapy groups including early intervention, social emotional learning, prevocational and vocational skills, aquatics, augmentative alternative communication, and voice. Her areas of focus include articulation, early language development, oral and written language, social language, fluency, voice, executive functions, and cognition. She has served on autism assessment teams and completed level one PROMPT training. Outside of work, you can find Taylor rock climbing, running, dancing, or skiing. She enjoys spending time with her dog, taking care of her plants, and arts and crafts with her friends and family.

Tato - Therapy Dog Lakewood Colorado

Tato is a rescue dog born in September of 2022. His name is Tato because he has a brother named Po (Po-Tato). He is training to be a Therapy Dog.  He’s learning verbal and hand sign commands so that he can listen to anyone who wants to play with him.  He is a mutt, that means a mix of many breeds, but the most noticeable ones are husky, american bulldog and german shepherd. He enjoys belly scratches, treats and cuddling on the couch after a long day of hard work! If you see him and want to say hello, please ask the adult who is with him to see if it is okay.
