Frequently Asked Questions
What can I expect on my first physical therapy visit?
Your physical therapist will ask for a history of your condition and how it is impacting your current functioning. They will perform some testing to assess things like strength and range of motion to determine physical limitations or issues. This visit takes anywhere from 30 minutes to one hour.
How many times will I need to come in for PT?
Your physical therapist will determine during your evaluation how many times you will likely need to be seen. Most patients attend PT one or two times a week usually for 30 minute sessions. The duration of therapy depends on many factors, some of which include how severe your symptoms are and how quickly you are able to make progress.
Should I have X Rays or MRI before seeking physical therapy?
Often times insurance companies require that you try physical therapy treatment before they will cover the cost of expensive imaging such as MRI.
Will my physical therapy be covered by insurance?
Most insurance covers physical therapy. You can inquire with your insurance company regarding what your benefits for PT are and our team also checks to verify your benefits.
Do I need a doctor's referral for physical therapy?
Colorado is a direct access state meaning that you can come directly to PT without a doctor’s referral, however, many insurance companies require a doctor’s referral. You may want to inquire with your insurance company regarding what their requirements are.
